Mother’s Day is right around the corner! What are you getting your mom?! Well, if you haven’t figured that out yet, I can help! Here are some affordable mom’s day gift ideas that will have her smiling from ear to ear.
DISCLAIMER: I have included some links to some of the objects/searches/Pinterest boards I mentioned in this post. These links are NOT sponsored. I only included them to give yall some visuals of what I am describing.
Moms love to smell good, weather that’s with body wash, lotions, perfumes, or candles! You could always stop by Bath & Body works to pick her up some of her favorite lotions and body scrubs (or make your own). Yankee Candles are my moms favorite, she can never have too many candles!
If your mom loves to cook or to try new foods you can always pick her up or make her some affordable recipe cards to make help her organize her secret recipes of deliciousness. If you know her favorite restaurant then a gift card is always appreciated to help her spend a relaxing night out with her hubby, or even you!
Moms who love to work outside or tend to the garden and yard could aways use some new gardening tools, fresh flowers, gloves, or even a new gardening hat. For a gift that both of you could enjoy, try getting her a DIY birdhouse kit and yall can make a birdhouse together and hang it up in the yard.
Diamonds are a girls best friend right? Well, I unfortunately cannot afford diamonds but my mom is a sucker for motherly pendants, earrings, rings, or bracelets-even the kind you can get from Kohl’s or Pandora. Last year my sister and I went in to get my mom a ring with our birth stones in it and she adored it. You could also make her a DIY Jewelry Display or DIY Necklace Stand.
I know my mom has a never ending purse of mess, but she loves it. You can always get her a new purse or handbag for the season or even a purse organizer to help make her life a little easier.
Take your mom shopping for some new clothes! Yall may have different tastes but maybe you can find her something that takes her on the wild side but that she also likes! Or maybe a gift card to her favorite store is best if she’s a picky dresser.
Every mom was a sucker for those Kindergarten hand made mother’s day cards and crafts. And I’m sure getting something homemade would still touch her heart. You can always make her a card and a little craft to let her know how much she means to you.
What She Really Wants
Okay, there is nothing wrong with straight up asking her what she wants for Mother’s Day. There may be something she actually needs or wants that you can get for her! I know most people always say “Oh, nothing, don’t even worry about it.” but it’s always worth a shot.
If your mom is already obsessed with something, stay on that route! I know that my grandma is obsessed with anything with owls on it so we always get her things to wear, carry, use, or house decorations with owls on it and she loves it! My mom loves wine so I love to make her crafts using her old corks, wine related decorations, or kitchen appliances and she loves it! See what your mom’s niche is and add to her collection!
Sometimes my mom says all she would like for her birthday, Christmas, or Mother’s Day is to spend time with our family. Plan a family day full of making her dinner, movie, board games, the works! Give her a wonderful family night in to enjoy.
Do you have pets at home? Would getting your mom’s favorite lap cat a new collar, drinking bowl, or a matching car magnet of her face on it make her laugh? You can always get her a Dog Mom t-shirt or a Crazy Cat Lady mug!
Sign yall up for some mother daughter craft classes at your local Michael’s or JoAnn Fabrics to learn a new skill or make something together! That way your gift can also create some lifelong memories

Kid at Heart
If you mom is really just a big kid I say get her an adult coloring book. You know, one of the fancy ones with cuss words that you color! 🙂 My mom recently got one and she loves being able to relax and de-stress after work and just color like a kid again.
If you mom loves to be at home, at her desk, or loves to read take her to Barnes & Nobles and find her a new book to enjoy, maybe one that you could enjoy with her. Or take a trip to Staples or Hobby Lobby and look for some new stationary items to spice up her home office and give it a new look.
I know my mom LOVED her OSU MOM shirt that we got my freshman year and I also got her an OSU MOM car decal to sport. She is so proud of me attending OSU and how good I am doing, and I am so grateful for her support so I want to make sure she knows it. And of course she can brag about her awesome daughter when people ask about her shirt or decal. It’s a win-win.

First Time Mom
For all those first time mommies out there, first off-CONGRATS!! Secondly, first time mommies need to get spoiled too! Before you go out and buy baby stuff realize that they probably have enough of that from the baby shower, unless they specifically asked for something. Try and think about what the new mom might need now that she is a NEW MOM and no longer by herself. Look into getting her and her hubby a date night reservation for some alone time and a personal coupon for you to babysit a night. Get her some new clothes to feel confident in, help her rock her mom bod! Everyone has been giving all their attention to the new baby, so for Mother’s Day think about her!
